Today is International Pronouns Day. See NYU’s pronouns page, reminder that Prof’s pronouns are they/them, and: free pronoun buttons from the LGBTQ+ Center @ Dibner Library!

We’ll take a break for a field trip at the end of October / beginning of November. Prof is finalizing the plan now, to visit part of the Underground Railroad, as well as a VR/XR/mocap studio at Tandon.

Time to jump into the future with some SCIENCE FICTION

  1. Read/listen/watch, take notes, and be ready for in-class timed exercises & discussions on: 
    • Dawn by Octavia E. Butler, Parts 1 & 2. (Note that the ePub and PDF contain 3 books, of which Dawn is the first.)
      • In the audio, this is Parts 1 & 2.
    • Finish the Introduction to Race After Technology
      • In the Class Books (Additional Reading) audio, this is Part 2.
  2. Start to finalize your midterm article.
    • The article is due next Thursday 10/26 @12pm, when I’ll download your Google Doc.
    • If you want written feedback, please finish it and alert me via email by Monday 10/23 @7:50pm. I’ll download early papers @8pm on Monday.
  3. Add relevant a news item to D&T News Items 2023.
