- Please come to class prepared to verbally discuss the following items without a device in front of you. (Paper-based notes are okay.)
- What’s a surprising fact about minoritized people in the United States during the 1800s?
- What’s a surprising facts about technology from the 1800s?
- What’s a surprising face about Toni Morrison?
- What type of primary research might you like to conduct on 1800s technology? Note: for this class, survey-based primary research will generally not be accepted, but we can discuss on a case-by-case basis.
- Read and be prepared to discuss the similarities and differences between civil & human rights laws/policies of NYU, New York City, New York State, and the United States.
- Start looking through the novel Beloved. You won’t be asked about it until after Add/Drop, but it doesn’t hurt to start getting familiar!
