Extra Credit
For extra points on your final article
- Make an appointment for Writing Center consultant to edit your paper, and then respond to their edits. These appointments can be in-person at Tandon, or over Zoom.
- To receive credit for this, I MUST be able to see the Writing Center comments in the Google Doc I created for your final article. Please add an Appendix to your paper explaining how many appointments you made, and what you learned from each appointment.
- One appointment can earn you 3 extra points, and you can make up to 3 appointments, for up to 9 extra points on your paper. A writing center appointment generally focuses on a single section in your paper.
For extra points on your final grade: audit your bibliography
UMD has a great page on citation justice, with two tools to audit your citations. For extra credit, you can use one or both tools, then document the results by December 21 at 11:59pm ET.
- Run the Gender Citation Balance Tool for up to 1 extra point: Find the tool link on the UMD page, then paste in your bibliography. To share the results, please add an Appendix to your paper containing the results and a couple paragraphs about what you found, what you learned, and what surprised you.
- Run Diversity Bibliography Code for up to 6 extra points (equivalent to 1.1 unexcused absence): please complete this project brief in its entirety.
Grade Rubric
See Final Grade Sheet here.
The purple text denotes updates and differences from the Midterm Grade Sheet.
If your article isn’t in the Google Doc I created for it, it will count as late. Each day of lateness subtracts 3 points from the article’s grade.
