  1. Develop an interactive visualization(s)<\/span><\/strong> of a large (5000+ records) dataset for a general audience with no previous knowledge of the data. If the visualization is online, it should be deployed on a standalone web page\u2014do not use code playgrounds like JSFiddle or Codepen. If the visualization is not online, please send me the files or materials I need to run and evaluate the\u00a0visualization offsite. The visualization should employ\n
      \n
    • keys, colors, annotations, and other relevant information<\/span> to show and explain patterns in the data that can only be understood through your project.<\/li>\n
    • introductory text and titles<\/span> so that a general user has all the information she\/he needs to engage with and understand the visualization without further explanation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
    • Include a background write-up<\/strong> (at least 800 words on your blog is fine) with an MLA-formatted bibliography containing at least 3 scholarly articles. Be sure to address the following points in the write-up. I will evaluate your project based on these points:\n

      • How is your overall visualization significant,\u00a0unique, and relevant<\/span> to general audiences?<\/li>\n
      • What is the data source<\/span>? How is it significant?<\/li>\n
      • What questions<\/span> does your visualization\u00a0help answer?\u00a0What is the best medium for this representation? (i.e. poster, model, web page)<\/li>\n
      • Please discuss\u00a0prior work<\/span>, \u00a0prototypes, or sketches for your visualization. It can be both others’ \u00a0work (please cite them in your bibliography) and\/or\u00a0your own work.\u00a0How have these predecessors refined your work for this project?<\/span><\/li>\n
      • Is there a subset of the general audience<\/span> that could especially use or appreciate your visualization? If so, why?<\/span><\/li>\n
      • How is your visualization implemented<\/span>? What technologies does it use?<\/span><\/li>\n
      • How is your visualization meant to be used? What are the steps for a user to interact<\/span> with your\u00a0vis?\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
      • Future Work<\/span>: What are the next steps for refining\u00a0this project?<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
      • Create a\u00a0slidedeck<\/strong> (of at least 6 slides) that explains the content in your write-up.<\/li>\n
