Announcements Agenda Assignment – Final Class on Monday!!

Announcements

  • Draft #2 is due today. I’ll download them and check for updates during Peer Review check-ins.
  • Final Deadlines and Reminders has new notes on final article placement and lateness. And the Final Grade Sheet (linked from Deadlines and Reminders) has additional penalties for lateness, and for improperly citing or not citing generative AI.
Meaning: for most folks, submitting the exact same midterm article for the final will likely garner a lower score. But I’m certain this is not you! 🙂

Agenda

  • Peer Review 2 – check ins (15)
    • Please make sure you have access to the Google Doc I created for your peer’s article. I let this slide for Peer Review 1, but for Peer Review 2, I won’t accept Peer Reviews that are not correctly located. Please put your work into the correct doc!
    • Groups: Random Mixes
      • Yujiang, Julie
      • Juan, Chenxi, Sarah
      • Dhruv, Dariana, Jessica
      • Anna, Alwyn, Wendy
  • Slideshow preview, live edits and final questions (60ish)
    • Note that my focus has been on examining assertions — are they logical? Are they convincing? Do they support your larger argument?
    • Here are some writing resources from UMD and Monash U about forming arguments and critical thinking as part of long-form essay and research writing.
    • And maybe we’ll take a break for additional News (10)

  • Peer Review 2 – for credit, please make sure you’re leaving comments in the correct Google Doc.
    • Please read your assigned peer’s second draft, then leave at least 12 comments in the draft, preferably distributed throughout the article from beginning to end. Use the Final Grade Sheet as a guide for leaving relevant comments.
